Trying to be greener
Ok, so if you read my blog at all, you will know that I'm making my own laundry soap and have stopped using commercial shampoo. I also tried making dish soap, long story, but it just didn't work out. The soap left scuzz on the water and on the dishes that I just couldn't get past. If anyone knows a good "natural" recipe that WORKS, drop me a line! I was chatting with my sister in law the other day, and she mentioned she had cleaned hard water stains from her toilet with a pumice stone. My bathtub was badly stained, as someone who lived here before us had a mat in there which left sticky marks that would just not come out, no matter how I scrubbed or used harsh chemicals. I figured I'd give it a try, and you know what? It isn't perfect, and it left a few small scratches, but it is MUCH improved!
here is a "before"
and an "after"
over all, I am pleased with how my "green" alternative worked out!
My garden is growing, finally, although I am not sure it's on schedule. It's been very cool here in southern Ontario, so things just haven't been growing well. My "cool" things, spinach, radish, beets, swiss chard, peas, potato, onion and lettuce have flourished while the veggies that require warmth to grow are struggling.I'd say 3/4 of my beans didn't get even out of the ground, same with the squash/melons/cukes/zucchini. Loving the gardening, though!
