Excited!

Image
I have some company coming. Special company! My Mom, sister Rebecca, nephew Caleb and niece Emma are leaving on Saturday morning to drive here and see us! I haven't see them in aaaaaaages, and have never met Emma. I am not sure what we will be doing when they are here, but I know that Rebecca wants to spend alot of her time in Hamilton with Cindy, so that Caleb and Samuel can play together. They want to go to Niagara Falls, since Rebecca has only been there in winter time. Maybe we'll hit storybook gardens one day, and I don't know what we will do the rest. I can't wait to see them and meet Emma!

Webkinz and dog washing

It was raining this morning. The kind that hits the tin roof with a WHOMP and makes you jump awake. It sounds very soothing usually, after the initial jolt awake. It also makes my yard a muddy mess. Usually, a muddy mess isn't too much of a problem, but when you have just gotten a snowy white dog......not so much fun! The boys were up before the alarm clock, wanting to walk the dog (wonder how long THAT will last *rolls eyes*) so out they went. the came back in, wiped his feet on his "dirty foot towel" ate their breakfast and ran back out. So, I walked him a km after the kids got on the bus, and by the time he got back home, he was a little mud ball. So into the bath he went. He is considerably whiter and fluffier now, and he had a grand time racing through the house rubbing his snout on the floor. He was excellent having a bath, but did shake himself before I got the towel on him ~yikes! After the boys got home, we walked 2 kms, and my legs are sure feeling the 5 kms I h

Introducing William Wallace!

I have been wanting a dog for well, years now. We've had a few, but never very long term. I've been a bit shy of adopting a new dog, after a bad experience with our last dog biting Ryan and just being in general not a great fit for our family. So, today, I was tidying my laundry room, and I heard HONKKKKK from my driveway! I poked my head out the door, and there was G, home from work, with a gorgeous white Westie for me! What a fabulous surprise! He's 4 years old, and is energetic. We went for a long (2km) walk, and by the end, he was pretty wiped (so was I haha) so there is an end to his energy. I hope he will help keep me motivated to walk every day! He walks really well, although he does like to mark every.single. lightpost. without further ado, I give you William Wallace, aka Wally

Day out!

Image
It's Liam and G's birthday today. Happy Birthday! I went out today with some friends. I had a grand time! Carolyn and Mary picked my up around 9 or so, and we headed out to a wonderful cooking store. It was chock full of just about everything you can imagine regarding cooking, from palm potato peelers to frostee machines to loaf pans to gas range stoves. We ended up nabbing the biggest pot you've ever seen and a masher to match for cooking potatoes at the meeting in Clinton. (maybe those palm potato mashers would have come in handy haha) after that store, we beelined it over to stack a shelf to check out their great sales ( http://www.stackashelf.com/ ) which I couldn't resist. I ended up with a new cabinet, which I put together wrong. so I un did it. and put it together again. WRONG. on my third try I finally figured it out (yes indeedy I am on the ball today) and it looks very nice. We had a grand lunch at Harveys~YUM! I love Harvey's burgers! and found out where

Could this be spring?

Image
I saw a robin yesterday! He was sitting on a branch, just above a snowbank almost as high as th ebranch he was on. A robin is a sure sign that spring is on it's way! Everything is melting too! We have enormous amounts of snow still in our yard. Two days ago, you could not see our composter, it was completely buried. Today you can see two feet of it! There is a downside, however, and that is the flooding. Considering that when I went to get the mail, I fell through the snow crust up to my waist and didn't go deeper because of my body stopping it, there is a pile more snow to melt yet. here is a shot I took at about 8:30 am today and here is a shot at 3 pm today I guess it is kind of hard to tell, (you can sort of gage by the sattelite thing on the left side) but the water has risen a few feet. It has risen in my basement as well. There is about a foot of water down there. Good thing it's an old oogy basement and we do not keep anything down there! I noticed that the ditch (6
